When life is extrordinary
The social distancing imposed by the lockdown pushed Dynamo to explore innovative ways to bring the benefits of Recreational Therapy to categories of fragile people never before hosted at the Camp. Because with a proactive approach, even from an emergency situation new opportunities can arise.
Often, habit inhibits our ability to perceive and appreciate the extraordinariness of life. But just as often, particularly negative or emergency situations spur us to bring out the best in ourselves, transforming them into opportunities never before considered. This is what also happened at Dynamo during the Covid-19 emergency, which prevented the camp from hosting children with serious or chronic illnesses in the first two summer months. It would have been a shame, however, to inhibit the Campus for so many months, leaving all its potential unexpressed.

"This happened because we managed to be Dynamo more than ever, even wearing a mask that covered our smiles," adds Valentina Bestetti, who has been on staff since 2015. But Dynamo also thought of its campers during this period. During the lockdown, children and families were offered the #ACasaComeADynamo program, open to everyone, through the web, and developed mainly on Facebook and YouTube. The activities moved online, challenging the most imaginative to participate in a new Campus experience, to create musical instruments, rap songs, wind chimes and much more. At Easter, on the other hand, families who were expected at the Campus were able to carry out a personalized session managed by the staff remotely. A new opportunity to allow the "Dynamo method" to demonstrate all its resilient strength. But the most anticipated moment, being able to welcome children and families back to the Campus, arrived in late summer: after the Extra-ordinary sessions in June and July, from August 9th, the doors reopened to children and families with the usual Family programs, which once again filled the Campus with their enthusiasm.
